Tuck by Truck is a social enterprise which delivers and sells snacks to local businesses across Bexley, Bromley and Kent. It operates as a franchise owned by mcch and we operate the three outlets in Aylesford, Herne Bay and Bexley with the Shaw Trust running the Bromley service as a franchise. It has the potential to work anywhere and we would be happy to support other organisations extending the franchise and welcome visitors to see what we do.

Tuck by Truck offers a range of employment and vocational options to adults with learning disabilities in Kent and Bexley, with a service in Colchester for adults with mental health needs.
Individuals accessing the service will gain a variety of skills and work experience including:
- Work related skills development within the service
- Paid employment as a Delivery Assistant
- Support with accessing mainstream employment, education and training.
Tuck by Truck services operate using The ‘Tuck by Truck Business Management Manual’ – this provides a tool kit with a defined step by step approach, outlining the purpose and process of Tuck by Truck service delivery.
Staff and service users are encouraged to develop a sense of ownership and responsibility towards the service and how it is run. Key to the success is good communication and a culture that actively encourages discussion and problem solving at every level.
Service users are involved in all aspects of providing this service including pricing the goods, preparing and delivering the trays, checking stock and cashing up.
A Service Support System, based on the IPS model, enables the individual to identify their strengths as well as plan what support they need to achieve their aspirations.
Income from sales support the ability to pay a real wage but services still need to be subsidised to support the overall activities. Using the service as an alternative to traditional day services may be the way to achieve this.
Accessing the Tuck by Truck service

As part of a ‘Taster Day’ service users are invited to come and spend the day with the team and look around the service

If service users wish to access the service, they will need to fill out a referral form with their Care Manager

As part of their work related skills development, service users will have a range of goals that they can aim to achieve, for example making up a box, cashing up and answering the telephone.

As a Delivery Assistant and therefore as a paid mcch employee, service users will go out on the van with the driver to help deliver snack trays to our customers.
We can provide you with:
- a tray of snacks including healthy options on site at your workplace
- a weekly replenishment of stock
- a customised tray of snacks with your favourite products
- trained, professional, hard working and reliable employees
- advice on disability issues
We site a tray full of well known quality brand sweets, crisps and drinks at a convenient location on your premises. Your staff can purchase items as and when you require from the selection available and you can also choose the products you'd like in the tray. We've also made the paying process much simpler - staff will place their payment in the honesty box kept next to the tray and our delivery team will balance the cash with your sales. We will visit you weekly or as agreed, with a newly stocked tray.
