Enterprises

We have developed a range of innovative enterprises supporting people with a learning disability, autism or mental health need to access work opportunities. Enterprises give people valuable work experience, whilst also bringing in an income to support the enterprise and those in paid positions.

Our enterprises enable people to grow personally, as well as to develop work-related skills, and include:

  • improved confidence and self-esteem
  • communication skills
  • improved mental wellbeing
  • cv building and interview training
  • support to find work experience and paid work
  • enterprise-specific skills (such as money handling, stock control and business management)

  • Learning disability/autism enterprises:
The Department of Health’s ‘Valuing Employment Now’ strategy emphasises the importance of increasing the number of people with moderate and severe learning disabilities in paid employment by 2025. Through our enterprises we have successfully supported people to find part-time and full-time work. It is widely accepted that work can play a vital role in recovery for many people with mental health needs. Our enterprises for people with mental health needs support people within a short time-frame (normally six months) to enable a more focused and structured working environment.
