We have a development programme building new supported housing within the areas we operate.
We have developed another flagship building for people with learning disabilities in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The new scheme provides 16 fully wheelchair accessible self-contained flats as well as communal facilities designed to promote independence. The accommodation is designed to be flexible to meet changing health and physical needs and technology has been used to provide tenants with more choice and control. The scheme has been made possible through partnership working with NHS England and Kent County Council.
We are excited about this new development for young people, as it is much-needed in Kent. This new service will provide supported living for 7 people aged 18-25, which will also include a training flat. Ideal for people leaving residential colleges or who live with their parents, this new service will help people to gain skills to live independently.
More information about the support provided at this new service can be found here.
Mental health forensic step-down service
We are currently converting a grade II listed building into 10 self-contained flats for people leaving a secure unit in hospital. The service, which is based in Maidstone, will support people to prepare for living in the community again. Due to open 2016.
Holly Lodge - Challenging Behaviour scheme
The Holly Lodge development was also managed by mcch. Holly Lodge provides accommodation for people who present with challenging behaviours. The combination of innovative bespoke design and environmentally friendly features makes Holly Lodge one of a kind. We have included features such as curved (and removable) internall walls, soft impact finishes to floors and walls, solar panels and a sedum 'green roof'.
Our housing officers support people to sign up to their tenancy agreements. They are also available to meet with tenants and answer any queries regarding their tenancy.
In addition to the tenancies that we manage for mcch services, we also manage the tenancies for over 110 people supported by other service providers.
We can also offer assistance with finding individual housing solutions for people needing support and their families/carers.
We have a dedicated maintenance team who ensure that all our properties are safe and secure. We also have approved contractors, to carry out other works.
The maintenance team carries out repairs and general maintenance and gives specialist advice on adaptations required.
