It's official - after the mcch event on 7th September at the Kent Showground, we can report that mcch has got talent -and plenty of it!
Staff, Board members and people we support showed off their amazing talent at the mcch event by singing, reading poetry, making artwork, dancing, playing musical instruments and even rapping.
34 acts took part in the mcch's got talent show and over 40 pieces of artwork/photographs/textiles were submitted for the art competition. Judging the talent show was a panel of 4 experienced and independent judges: Benedict Smith (KMFM's breakfast DJ), Jess Walter (manager of the Maidstone Show Choir), Andy Hollidge (acts with the Three Towns Theatre Company) and Carol Eccleshare (social worker Kent).

Winners of the talent show:
- THIRD PLACE: Can U Move Like Rob? (Rob Marno performing a hip hop dance to Jason DeRulo's Ridin' Solo)
- SECOND PLACE: Carlton Players (performers from Carlton Resource Centre, Bexley, performing I Will Follow Him from Sister Act)
- FIRST PLACE: Peter Trott (playing the piano and singing Use Somebody by Kings of Leon)
Winners of the art competition:
THIRD PLACE: Paul Garmon (Carlton Resource Centre, Bexley) for his drawing of his Dad and a bird
- SECOND PLACE: Sheila Bell (Birnham Square, Kent) for her original poetry
- FIRST PLACE: Michael Cowe (Pathways to Inclusion) for his abstract picture
The event was attended by over 1300 people from across mcch services in the South-East. Entertainment was provided mostly by the talent show, but not all...a mix of activities, art and sport kept people entertained for the day and included 'exotic' animals, a farm, cupcake decorating, massage, cycling, fencing, face painting, soundbeam and a range of different stalls selling their wares.

Farewell Gordon - after 22 years with mcch!
Gordon Boxall, CEO, is leaving in September, after 22 years managing the organisation. His hard work, dedication and innovative working has seen mcch grow from strength to strength. mcch staff, Board members, people we support and external colleagues wished him the very best and presented him with a fabulous array of presents. Awarded with the 'Outstanding Achievement' award - thereafter named the 'Gordon Boxall' award - was particularly apt for such a great leader. Peter Thompson (currently CEO Designate) will take over from Gordon in September.
More photos and videos will be added in the coming weeks, so check back soon.
